What defines who we are?
Is it our experiences, choices and the path we take - or are forced to take sometimes?
I look for answers
and strive to share the stories of individuals with my camera.

Let Me Return Home
Monrovia Central Prison – Liberia’s Forgotten Children
In this powerful black-and-white series, Vincent Tremeau documents the lives of children incarcerated in Monrovia Central Prison, Liberia. Detained for minor offenses or without due process, many are held alongside adults in overcrowded, under-resourced conditions. Through intimate portraits and stark shadows, the series exposes the harsh realities of a broken juvenile justice system—yet also reveals moments of resilience, humanity, and hope. Each image is a quiet protest, urging us to rethink what justice means for children and reminding us of their right to a future beyond bars.

CHILDHOOD ON THE FRONTLINE
In the Kasaï region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, thousands of children have been recruited by armed militias, forced into violence, and subjected to brutal rituals. This series sheds light on their trauma, resilience, and the urgent need for reintegration and healing in a country scarred by decades of conflict.

One Day I Will
I have been asking children in Africa and around the world this question for the past years as a part of my portrait project “One Day, I Will.”

A VANISHING LAND
Climate change severely threaten people’s lives in West Africa.
Stronger storms and rising seas result in coastal erosion and flooding along the coast of Senegal.

CONGO

Bruised by decades of conflicts that resulted into humanitarian and health crises, the Congo is torn between resilience, hopes and joie de vivre on a daily basis.

WHERE TO
Documentary photographer and artist Vincent Tremeau's work, photographing the question of how we go from where we are to where we want to reach in life.

WHAT WE SEE
A striking and different approach of Vincent Tremeau to photography. In this series, Tremeau photographs people and environment under an abstract light.
